5 MUST HAVE items you'll wish you packed for your vacation!

I decided to write this informative blog to help people when it comes to packing for a vacation. Sure, we all know that we'll need clothes, shoes, underwear, pajamas, our tooth brushes, socks, and possibly even some hair and skin care products as well..... But some of the main things most people forget to pack are the most important things we all need, especially if we're away from home, away from familiarity, and away from the country. Here's a quick list of things that you MUST have with you when you go on vacation.

1. First Aid Kit- yes, I sound like your mom, but this is an important one. Did you pack band aids? Alcohol? Disinfectant? Anti-itch cream? Things like this make a big difference if you're ever to get a cut or a scrape while on a vacation. They certainly make all the difference if you're abroad, in a country where English is not the language of the land. Don't make the mistake of thinking "oh, I'm careful, nothing will happen to me.... I don't need these things" because you never know. From mosquito and spider bites, to bed bugs or skin irritation, a first aid kit will always come in handy if you have one. It's one of those things where it's better to not need it and have it, than to not have it and need it. Just something to consider.

2. World Clock System- luckily, now a days, many of our smart phones offer world clocks so regardless of where we are, we'll always know the time. It definitely comes in handy when you've crossed 1, 2, or even 3 different time zones. You may leave home in the morning, but by the time you arrive to your location, you've lost a day and a half because of the time differences. Nothing is more confusing than not knowing what day or time it is when you're in a different country. Always set your phone to whatever region of the world you're traveling to.

3. Diarrhea medication- hey, I know it sounds funny, but there's nothing worse than getting that bubbly feeling when you're on an airplane, or stuck in an airport. It's smart to carry around some pepto-bismol, alkaseltzer, imodium MD, and even some anti-histamines. You may not ever need them-- but for the one time that you do, you'll be more than happy that you have these things with you. Our diets and food sources aren't always the same when we travel, so our bodies sometimes don't function how they normally would if we were at home. It's always better to be safe than sorry.

4- Hand Sanitizer- if you're anything like me, then you may just be a serious germophobe... I'm not an extreme case, but I don't like touching door knobs, toilet seats, or the handles, shaking hands with strangers, etc... the thought of it sends me rushing to the nearest bathroom to scrub my hands clean! Hand sanitizer is a great way to prevent the spread of germs and common cold symptoms. Nothings worse than getting sick while on vacation. It can put a damper in your entire trip. Always protect yourself. Not everybody has clean habits.

5- Reusable dust masks- yea, I said it. Those little masks that the dentist and doctors often wear when they're operating on people. They're not wearing those for fashion. Lol.... They're wearing them to prevent the spread of diseases, germs, and airborne viruses that can attack your immune system if they find a way in. The mouth and nose are typically always open due to breathing, and we can't see the germs surrounding us, floating in space, just waiting for a weak vessel to enter. Don't be that weak vessel. A lot of sickly people are in airports (they're everywhere really) but they seem to enjoy traveling while sick, and just 1 cough from them, can spread millions of tiny germ particles around in the air. So if you're confined to a plane, with no windows open for those germs to escape, guess where they end up?! You guessed it, on or in YOU! So again, dust masks may look funny, but who's going to be laughing when everyone else gets sick, and you're perfectly healthy and protected..... Don't sleep on the idea!

These are just a few MUST HAVE items that I recommend you take with you while traveling. Although you may not ever need to use them, if by chance you do, you'll be glad you have them. It'll also save you time and money from having to search for them out of the country while on vacation. They're usually sold as compact or travel sized items, so they won't take up much space in your luggage or carry on. You can likely find any of these items at your local pharmacy or even grocery store.

Thanks for reading! If you enjoyed this or found any of these tips useful, feel free to share this post with your friends. You never know who made need the advice! So from one traveler to another, happy (and safe) travels guys!
